I first realized something was wrong with my hearing when I heard ringing in my ears. It was scary and I just wanted it to go away. My biggest fear was losing all my hearing and needing to learn Adult Sign Language. I saw a TV ad for Hearing Consultants of Colorado Springs, LLC. in Pueblo, and when I heard Dr Iliff talk about his own hearing loss, I felt like he’d really understand what I was going through.
I now wear a hearing aid in my right ear. In the beginning, sounds of birds and people were awkward and a little tinny, but Dr Iliff explained that with time my brain would adjust. The staff at the clinic are so helpful and friendly, and the doctors not only taught me about hearing loss but also how to hear best with my hearing device. I began having tinnitus after 2020 and did not realize I had a hearing problem until I visited Hearing Consultants of Colorado Springs, LLC in March 2026 to address the tinnitus. I was only concerned that if tinnitus was all I had, it would be a challenge to make it less of a problem. My first impression was that everyone was very friendly. I am very glad my hearing could be corrected, and the aids have always been comfortable. I seldom hear the tinnitus noises anymore, especially when I am wearing the aids. This is still new to me, so I am learning to use my phone program to help in different surroundings like restaurants, cars, and when watching television, and these options help so much. My favorite thing about working with the clinic is meeting Paola Diaz Cruz, who gave me the hearing exam, helped me choose the aids, and has been with me for my appointments so far. I am very pleased with the exam and the help I have received, even from the gals at reception. I would not go anywhere else. If you are concerned about your hearing, you should get a checkup.

I first realized I had a hearing challenge back in 2002, when I was just 20 years old. I had been diagnosed with low-tone hearing loss as a result of a very rare brain syndrome called Susac Syndrome, which affects the brain, hearing, and eyesight.
