Hearing Aid Assessments
At Hearing Consultants, we are dedicated to providing hearing aids that are properly fit and customized to every individual’s needs. Hearing aid assessments are part of the fitting process and are used to ensure that the devices are appropriately fit and improving the individuals hearing.
Acceptable Noise Level
This test evaluates an individual’s acceptable noise level intensities while listening to speech.
QuickSIN
The QuickSIN is a speech-in-noise test that evaluates an individual’s difficulty understanding speech in the presence of different intensities of background noise. This is an important test because an individual’s ability to understand speech in noise cannot be predicted based on a hearing test alone.
Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit
The Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit (otherwise known as APHAB) can be a very valuable source of information for the audiologist. The APHAB is a measure of how much challenge an individual perceives in various listening environments and the benefit the hearing devices give in reducing these challenges.
Hearing Aid / Assistive Device Demonstration
The hearing aid / assistive device demonstration consists of fitting the appropriate device based upon the above-mentioned tests along with a discussion on the appropriate technology and features that will most benefit the patient. This demonstration allows the patient to experience the benefit of the hearing aids / assistive device in their own environment where they encounter the most difficulty.
Conformity/Real Ear Verification
REAL EAR measurement provides an accurate representation of the sound pressure level and frequency response the hearing aids are providing in the individuals ear rather than only using a manufacturers average. Because every individual is unique, this test is critical in providing an accurate fitting for the patient.
